United Fresh 2013 will feature the FreshTech Learning Center with a session entitled “The Produce Traceability Intitative (PTI): Past, Present & Future”
When the Produce Traceability Initiative (PTI) was launched, steering committee members anticipated the industry would be able to complete all milestones toward a whole-chain, electronic traceability system by 2012. Did something go wrong, or did members have unrealistic expectations? This session will examine today’s PTI – the state of adoption of various practices and milestones in different sectors of the industry – and then look to the future. What are we likely to see in industry traceability practices in the near-term, and are we still headed toward a total supply chain solution?
